Hey friends!
The opportunities to monetize are closer than you think, and they work even if you don’t have a massive LinkedIn following.
While there are many writing platforms out there—like Substack, Medium, X, and LinkedIn—when it comes to finding clients, LinkedIn is arguably the most effective.
After all, your potential:
- Employers
- Readers
- Clients
They’re all gathered there.
So, why not give these methods a try? If they work, let me know how it goes!
1/ Consulting Services #
Don’t worry, you don’t need to be an industry titan to consult. Of course, if you’re an experienced expert, that’s a huge advantage. But the secret to consulting isn’t about being a “professional”; it’s about being just a few steps ahead of others.
So, if you’re an MBA student, you can offer consulting to those looking to apply to universities or prepare their Statements of Purpose (SOPs).
If you’re an experienced entrepreneur, you can consult for nascent startups.
If you’re a salesperson with a decade of experience, you can provide consulting on sales strategies.
You get the idea?
How to do it? #
- Create your consulting page on free platforms like Gumroad or Topmate, or a paid one like Calendly.
- Add the link to your LinkedIn Featured section.
- If you have a LinkedIn Premium account, you can even add the link directly under your name.
- Also, consider adding this service to your LinkedIn profile headline.
- One optional tip: include a Call to Action (CTA) at the end of your LinkedIn posts.
For example, your post could end like this:
I specialize in helping new professionals prepare their graduate school applications. Want to learn more? Let’s connect one-on-one! (Link in my profile!)
2/ PDF Products #
This is really not as complicated as it sounds.
Let’s say you’re a father who wakes up at 5 AM every day to exercise, allowing you to have energy for your children while also working on personal development for your workday and life.
Aren’t you already a huge step ahead of many others who want to do the same?
Well, you could write a “Three-Step Productivity Checklist” specifically designed to help other fathers become their best selves.
That’s a ready-made product right there.
Making money online doesn’t require some earth-shattering strategy. You just need to put every idea into practice, iterate, and see what works.
How to operate? #
- Write something in Google Docs or Canva, even if it’s just three pages.
- Convert it to PDF format.
- Upload it to Gumroad, and you’re good to go.
3/ Find a problem, then offer a solution #
The most successful freelancers aren’t necessarily household names, but they all know how to proactively get ahead of the curve.
Two ways to play it:
- If someone is hiring, send an InMail or direct message (a cold outreach) explaining why you’re the best fit for the job. Don’t just talk the talk; walk the walk. Remember to attach your relevant work.
- If they aren’t hiring, but you spot a problem, proactively offer a solution. For instance, you notice a founder’s website is a mess. As a web designer, you can write to them explaining why the website isn’t performing optimally, what you can do, and why you’re the best person for the task.
Those who complain about not making money are often just spinning their wheels without thinking.
I’ve received many job inquiry DMs where the sender hadn’t even bothered to check if I was hiring!
So, being smart can truly help you achieve more with less effort!
